Rob Sampson is a member of the Connecticut House of Representatives representing the 80th State House District. A resident of Wolcott, Connecticut, he was first elected to the Connecticut General Assembly as a State Representative in 2010 by a margin of 45 votes requiring a statutory recount.

Biography
Sampson is a long time resident of Wolcott, Connecticut. He grew up in Meriden, Connecticut where he attended Francis T. Maloney High School and later attended Central Connecticut State University. He worked as an auto mechanic, manager of a retail store, a roadie for a music deejay, before becoming an insurance producer and real estate agent. He has been a registered Republican since voting for his first time at age 18 in 1988.

Political career
Prior to being elected to public office, Sampson worked as volunteer on several Republican political campaigns for both state and federal office.
He is currently serving his fourth term as State Representative for Connecticut's 80th District which includes the entire town of Wolcott and the western end of Southington, including parts of Marion, Milldale, and Plantsville. He was reappointed as the Ranking Member of the Insurance & Real Estate Committee. Additionally, Rob serves on the Judiciary Committee, the Government Administration and Elections Committee, and the Housing Committee. He serves as Chairman of the Connecticut General Assembly Conservative Caucus.
In 2013, Representative Sampson was appointed to the legislature's bipartisan task for on Gun Violence Prevention and Children's Safety formed in the wake of the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, CT. Sampson was promoted to Republican Ranking Member of the Insurance & Real Estate Committee for the 2012 session of the Connecticut General Assembly.
Positions
Sampson is known as an opponent of Governor Malloy's administration, opposing his proposed budgets and policies including the early release of violent felons, the forced unionization of child care providers and personal care attendants, and the New Britain to Hartford Busway.
He received the Legislator of the Year award in 2012 from the Connecticut Citizens Defense League and received the NRA Defender of Freedom award in 2014.
